Kinesio Tape
Where did Kinesio Tape come from?
Kinesio Tape was developed by Dr Kenzo Kase over 25 years ago as a therapeutic taping method, with the aim of giving patients further benefit between treatment sessions. The taping method is based on the kinesiology principle of returning the body to homeostasis, using the body’s own built in healing mechanisms and depending on its application can be used to many different affects.
Kinesio Taping has taken the sporting world by storm, and is used extensively in such sports as tennis, rugby union, soccer, AFL and athletics. Now you can experience the amazing effects of Kinesio Taping at your local Kalamunda Clinic, Complete Wellness Physiotherapy.
At Complete Wellness Physiotherapy, Kinesio taping is used for clients with:
- Pain
- Muscle imbalances
- Poor posture
- Lymphatic drainage problems
- Ligament, tendon and joint injuries
- Post surgical joints (eg. post total knee replacement)
- Fascial adhesions and scars
- Poor movement patterns
- Neurological conditions
Kinesio Tape is hypoallergenic, latex free and breathable making it well tolerated by most people with particularly sensitive skin. Kinesio Tape works best when worn for an extended period of time and can be safely worn for 3-5 days. It is very comfortable to wear as its elastic properties allow it to move with your skin. The glue is heat activated and designed to stay on during all sporting activities, as it is water resistant and suitable for humid climates.
Your highly trained Physiotherapists at Complete Wellness Physiotherapy will assess each person individually to ascertain what taping techniques best suit your condition. To get the most benefit from your Kinesio Taping, your Complete Wellness Physiotherapist will prescribe home exercises that reinforce the positive effects gained by the tape.
